San francisco California. October 2017 - Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. presents the 360 Round, a new camera to develop and transmit high quality 3D content for specialists and amateurs who demand a superior virtual reality (VR) experience.
The device, announced at the Samsung Developers Conference (SDC 2017), uses 17 lenses - eight pairs of stereo positioned horizontally and a single lens positioned vertically - to transmit live 4K video in 3D and spatial audio, and create immersive images in 3D with depth.
The durable and compact design of the 360 Round is noted for its IP651-certified water and dust resistance for use in all weather conditions and a fanless design to reduce weight and eliminate background noise. In addition, it has a software to control the device and the possibility of connecting with an external storage unit2, achieving a lasting filming.
The growth of 360 content platforms, such as Samsung VR, Facebook and YouTube, as well as the propagation of 360 videos through the mainstream media, has increased the need for high quality content among professionals and amateurs of VR. The 360 Round is the first product that meets these needs by combining high quality 360 degree images with advanced 3D depth at a reasonable price compared to other professional cameras.

High Quality 360 Content
The 360 Round offers high quality 3D images with a 4K camera, thanks to the 17 paired lenses that capture a 360 degree view for a complete 3D experience. In addition, the 360 Round allows live transmission with little to no latency3 and transmits easier than ever, with a one-step control software provided by Samsung.
Durability
The Samsung 360 Round uses a single body frame designed to reduce heat, eliminating the need for a fan and minimizing size and weight. The compact design helps eliminate excess noise and reduce energy consumption during hours of continuous shooting. In addition to this, the 360 Round is water and dust resistant with IP651 certification, making it an ideal choice to capture content in the most challenging environments. With connectors and expandable ports, the 360 Round is designed to connect easily and quickly to additional equipment, such as an external microphone, and storage to record large files.
Samsung's 360 Round will be available in October in the United States before expanding to other markets.
