If you want to be prepared, connected, enlightened, nurtured and located in your adventures, these are the 5 gadgets that will give you the best service.

I will present to you 5 gadgets of the last I've tried (well almost all except the Petzl NAO + front). They are the ones that have most impressed me.

[1] Nutribullet blender: nutrition shots in one minute.

A blender specially designed for those who need nutrition to be an important part of their training (such as trail runners, cyclists, cross-country skiers, etc.). The Nutribullet has a special blade design that at 20,000 revolutions crushes in just 30 seconds, fresh fruits and vegetables, including stems, seeds and nuts. The blades break the cell walls of fibrous plant foods, thus releasing all the vitamins and minerals they contain. In this way, the food keeps its nutritional value intact and our organism can absorb it more easily. I tried this blender making a spinach, pear, persimmon persimmon, raspberries, blueberries, goji berries, flax seeds and water shake. In less than a minute I took a very tasty "detox", even at room temperature, very soft, and that satiated me hungry and thirsty instantly.

[2] CAT S60 mobile: The strongest mobile in Outdoor.

I have tested this terminal and I can assure that it resists the unspeakable. Blows, vibrations and falls from almost 2 meters. The CAT S60 is hermetic and resistant to dust, snow and submersible up to 5 meters. One of the functions that differentiate it from the rest is its thermal camera that allows to take amazing images in the middle of the night. Among its most important applications are the Location Alert, which sends distress messages with location in case of emergency; and the App Toolbox, where you can find specialized applications such as altimeter, Climbing Grades Table for climbers, MapMyRide for cyclists or Sail Racer or Boat Coach for sailors. Recommended RRP of € 769.

[3] Radio Sangean MMR-88: The radio receiver of the base camp.

Built to withstand what is needed in any adventure, this radio has seven weather channels through the NOAA band, which translates into warnings, forecasts and alerts, in addition to 19 random pre-defined stations (AM / FM mixed). It has indefinite autonomy because it can be loaded with crank and dynamo, charged alone and charged by USB. It also has a LED flashlight adjustable to 3 intensities, with SOS signal function. To which it is necessary to add automatic search of transmitters; automatic disconnection at 90 minutes of activity, clock, LED charging indicator and headphone output, in addition to offering emergency acoustic warnings. In the MMR-88 you can also listen to conventional radio. If the programming is not good it can be attached to any multimedia player and play the music that the adventurers want. RRP: 99 euros.

[4] Petzl NAO + Flashlight: The smart front.

This headlamp can be programmable through an application and can be consulted in real time on the mobile thanks to the bluetooth connection. This way you can better manage the autonomy of the flashlight and adapt its use to the conditions. The application also has predefined profiles or can be customized for the needs of the user. As if that were not enough, the NAO + incorporates the Reactive Lighting technology through which it adapts the lighting power to the ambient luminosity, thus saving energy. With this technology one can do a night trekking without being worried about how much autonomy it has. The flashlight can give a power of 750 lumens.

[5] GPS onTracks: the browser that warns before being consulted.

When you are in the middle of a Mountain Bike or trail running route and you come to an intersection where you are not sure of the route to follow, you should check the GPS or the map. OnTracks warns through vibrations and light signals of the way to go before reaching the intersection, thus preventing the activity from being interrupted. OnTracks are two wristbands that are worn in both hands and have a screen for light signal and vibration device, connected to the mobile. When it is necessary to turn to the right it vibrates and the right bracelet is illuminated and vice versa.

Today we have excellent news for those who use Pixel 2 and Pixel 2XL phones. The new Android 8.1 Oreo update will allow you to use the cameras to the fullest, accessing the processing of images in HDR + format.

The process works as follows: Once the software update is installed, the Pixel Visual Core photo optimization chip will be activated, working in parallel with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, with which the image processing will be faster and smoother.

The result of this improvement will be sharper photographs, better resolution and with a considerable reduction of noise, in addition to being able to load 3D images up to five times better.

This in itself is already a good news, but the news does not end here, because the update will allow third parties to make use of Google cameras through other apps.

We must remember that the camera of Google Pixel 2 has been ranked as the best of mobile devices, and to be able to take more advantage of it and install it on other devices will undoubtedly attract many more customers, especially in this era where images play a transcendental role in the communication process.

    Step by Step

According to what the giant Google has announced, Android 8.1 Oreo will be in the market in the coming weeks only for its developers. Those who want to use Google cameras through an app will have to wait a little longer, however, it is a fact that will be in the market.

Later it is foreseen that the latest update can also be made in the first generation equipment of Pixel mobile devices, and in some Nexus models.

Already some devices work with Android 8.0, and improvements with the 8.1 could even make other brands, such as Samsung, One Plus and LG, join the update, not to fall behind in the competition of mobile devices.

    It will have even more

Although Google has not revealed more details about the new operating system for mobile devices, we can say that it still has more:

    • Own API: Android 8.1 Oreo is expected to have its own API level, which means considerable internal improvements and greater availability of APIs. In addition, it is estimated to include improvements in battery and performance.
    • Larger icons: One of the innovations of the successor of the 8.0 update is that there are changes in the size of its icons. An information has been leaked that ensures that the icons would be larger.
    • New emojis: The new version would not be complete if you do not include new emojis, which Android has already accustomed us.
    • Edition of screenshots: Another feature that the version would have is the ability to edit screenshots directly from it. This way you would avoid having to save the capture and go to the gallery to make the arrangements. If so, Google would be ahead of other companies that are already working on this improvement.
    • More commands: A novelty of more commands for Bisto headphones is expected. Its release to the market would be another great success of the giant Google.

We just have to wait for Google to give the green light to his new update to start enjoying it. Although we are sure that, when you are in the galleries, your developers will start working on a new one to continue to excel in the technology market.

In recent years, technological advances have been a challenge for countless classic industries. Most have tried-or are still trying-to turn the challenge into an opportunity, taking advantage of new developments to renew the brio of their business. But sometimes, the disruptive forces end up overflowing the adaptation capacities of the traditional industry, condemning it to a progressive loss of relevance.

This lugubrious vision has been hovering over the years for the traditional watchmaker's business. The emergence of Apple in the universe of smartwatches or smart watches with the launch of Apple Watch, in September 2014, represented the necessary impetus for devices in which companies such as Samsung or Motorola already worked. Since then, the rising trend of smart watches has been crossed with the loss of strength of the traditional industry, giving rise to the most pessimistic theories.

A pessimism that has left a deep impression on the parquet. Since the end of 2013, the US watch manufacturer Fossil has seen more than 80% of its value disappear, while Switzerland's Swatch has suffered losses of over 40%. Even groups with a more diversified business have received in their quotes the impact of the crisis of the traditional clock. Thus, the Japanese Citizen Watch falls about 20% in the last four years, while Japan's Seiko and Swiss Richemont (owner of Cartier) fall more than 13%.

The drop in exports of Swiss watches, which accumulate more than two years down, to reach levels of 2011, is the most significant reflection of the challenge facing the sector. Because the situation is not better for manufacturers in other regions. The Japanese bank Nomura accompanies, almost without exception, its reports on the traditional Japanese watchmakers of the warning that "the deceleration of the external demand and the weak movements of the prices have created unfavorable business conditions for the watch industry".

This vision contrasts with that of the smart watch universe, where sales soared in 2015 by more than 350%, according to data from Strategy Analytics. It can be said that the Apple Watch was the spark that the smartwatch industry needed to start gaining prominence. And that despite the fact that Apple's device was, in its beginnings, something like the ugly duckling within the apple family. It did not fulfill the forecasts, it did not contribute almost any new element and, in general, it went unnoticed before the general opinion. The most faithful to the brand did wear it on their wrists, but their numbers were poor.

That is why the Cupertino army got down to work and in the last Apple Event, last September, they took advantage of the spotlights of the presentation of the iPhone 7 to unveil the second generation of the smart watch. Lower price, new features and a design less focused on sports and sales began to rise.

Only in the last quarter of the year, according to data from Strategy Analytics, Apple placed more than five million watches on the market. The figure, in the global computation of the year 2016, touched the 12 million thanks to that strong impulse of the winter period.

"The demand for the new Apple Watch has been surprisingly strong during the Christmas holidays," says Cliff Raskind, an analyst at the American firm. Not in vain, the year 2016 has been the best for the sector of smart watches, with 21.1 million units dispatched. The figures surpassed the year 2015, although the increase in sales has barely exceeded 1%.

In any case, it is clear that since the middle of last year the industry is experiencing a rebound. "There are signs of recovery, although there are still some barriers to overcome," says Raskind.

In his words there is a veiled criticism of the two most powerful manufacturers: Apple and Samsung. The North American company, which has not completely abandoned its focus on functionalities related to health and sports, "has to improve in the manufacture of sensors" to measure this type of activity, according to Raskind. Similarly, Samsung must "improve their prices and introduce significant improvements."

The South Korean giant put on the market at the end of 2016 its latest device, the Gear S3. In its first hours in South Korea it did manage to meet the forecasts, with a sales volume of around 2,500 units dispatched every hour. The effervescence of those early bars, however, soon relaxed. The reason must be sought in its price: the normal is to find it in the environment of 400 euros.

    Market dominance

The two giants of the world of telephony have transferred their domain to the terrain of smartwatches. Apple closed the year 2016 with a market share of 55%, while Samsung was left with a modest 11.5%. Between both, in any case, dominate a third of sales worldwide.

Among those figures highlights how the American firm has been gaining ground as the year progressed. In the first quarter of its fiscal year 2017, which corresponds to the last three months of 2016, Apple took a market share close to 80%. That, at the most important sales peak of the year, is an important milestone in the industry.

The rest of the market players have a minor relevance, as is the case of Huawei. The Asian firm, firmly established in the second position in the smartphone market in Spain, is showing itself as an alternative to the two colossi thanks to a very traditional line.

The appearance of the Shenzhen company models have a classic cut and imitate the appearance of traditional watches, but then incorporate technological details. It is true that they are high-end devices and are not available to all pockets, so Huawei will still have to work to beat, for example, Fitbit.

    Attempt to adapt

To cope with these new trends in the industry, traditional watchmakers have not hesitated to enter this same path. For example, the prestigious brand TAG Heuer, of the company LVMH, presented at the end of 2015 its first smart watch, with the collaboration of Google and Intel.

One of the most active in this field has been Fossil. The US manufacturer made significant investments at the end of 2015 to enter the smartwatch market. His bet, although applauded from various areas, has not managed to stop the bleeding suffered by the company on the stock market.

On the contrary, its latest results, presented on February 15, were welcomed with a collapse of its quotation close to 15%. Among other reasons, analysts have alleged the fall in margins that have sponsored their smart watches, which also have not managed to compensate with a considerable volume of sales.

Many experts wonder if the sector is prepared to compete in this field with technology giants such as Apple or Samsung. Investment in R & D by Swiss watchmakers was cut in half between 2003 and 2014, according to the book When corporatism leads to corporate governance failure. The case of the Swiss watch industry, written by Isabelle Schluep Campo and Philipp Aerni.

However, the ailments of the watch industry are far from limited to the competition of smartwatch. In fact, in a recent study by Deloitte, only 21% of the sector managers surveyed pointed to the smart watch as the main risk to their business.

From this same study another data stands out. 82% of executives are pessimistic about the perspectives of the sector. This black panorama would be propitiated, beyond by the new competition, by the fall of the sales in an essential market for the sector as the Asian.

    A demand to the downside

It is estimated that more than half of the Swiss watches - which account for 57% of the world market according to Vontobel - are destined for Hong Kong, China and Japan, markets that have experienced in recent years a remarkable decrease in demand. The deceleration of these economies has coincided also with other factors that have played against the demand for luxury watches, the fundamental leg of the business.

From Vontobel Bank point out the anti-corruption campaign launched by the Chinese authorities, which has discouraged the consumption of luxurious ornaments, and the reduction of travel of Chinese citizens. In this last sense, the attacks that Europe has suffered, which have reduced the number of Asian tourists are also mentioned by various experts as one of the keys to the fall in sales.

All this accumulation of problems reached the watch industry with its guard down. After a few years of vertiginous growth of sales between 2010 and 2013, encouraged by the high Chinese demand, which fostered very ambitious expectations, the sector hit its head in 2014 with a stagnation of business that contracted since the second half of 2015

At that time, the sector encountered high levels of production that resulted in a striking increase in inventories. The most paradigmatic case is that of Swatch, which has seen the value of its watches grow in stock at almost 50% of its equity value, compared to 30% when it was only a decade ago. "These high inventories link a large amount of capital, generate high logistics costs, run risks of obsolescence and are a clear sign that the company has a problem on the sales side," said Schluep Campo and Aerni.

However, the sector could be starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. "We believe that the worst has been left behind", indicate in this line the analysts of Vontobel, who nevertheless warn that a recovery in sales, foreseeable in 2017, would be limited.

In any case, this perspective has been enough for the market, fueled by the lower pessimism around the Chinese economy, to bet on the recovery of the sector. Since last summer, the actions of Swatch and Richemont have experienced comebacks in the environment of 40%, which make up their punishment of recent years.

Investors thus show their confidence that the deterioration of the watchmaking business could be close to reversing. In addition, some measures of the major manufacturers have managed to improve their situation, through job cuts, cost containment and, to a large extent, price reduction. Thus, for example, the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry, highlighted in its report last December that the incipient improvement in sales was largely concentrated in the segment of parts with lower prices.

This, the expectation of recovery that begins to glimpse the market could be exaggerated. As Citi comments in a report on Swatch there is a high "uncertainty about the future profile of revenue growth and the potential recovery of margins, as well as structural challenges (production overcapacity, continued disruption in Hong Kong, the largest market and most profitable of the Swiss watch industry, deflation of prices, threat of smartwatches) ".

Chuwi became known worldwide for its tablets in which both an Android system and a Windows system that you could use according to your preferences were integrated.

The Chinese brand has also developed well facing challenges such as entering the tablets and convertibles 2 in 1 with Windows, presenting authentic best sellers such as Chuwi H10 Pro or Chuwi H12.

His pulse has also not trembled when he embarked on the manufacture of laptops and ultrabooks and, after the successful experience they had with the Chuwi SurBook, whose financing was made possible thanks to a campaign in Indiegogo, where he obtained more than $ 1 million of investment. .

Now CHUWI returns to the charge with the same formula to make his second foray into the difficult terrain of the convertible 2 in 1 with Windows 10 and devote the month of November to seek funding for your Chuwi Corebook.

This new convertible 2-in-1 integrates an Intel Core M3 7Y30 7th generation processor with which will achieve a very good performance and very tight consumption.

Next to this processor we find 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. Design

When choosing a terminal there are many that give great importance to design while others look more in technical characteristics, performance, camera, battery, etc. In addition it is always difficult to qualify a mobile based on its design because for tastes colors, having said that, I will not enter if it is prettier or uglier.

The ZTE Blade 4G Vec is an angled smartphone, with quite sharp corners which, more or less, is somewhat more uncomfortable than a mobile with a more curved profile, although it is worth mentioning that the edges are slightly rounded.

The mobile is manufactured in a single body, has a unibody design so the battery is not removable and the SIM card is accessible from the left profile with a removable tray. The storage capacity is 16 GB and you cannot expand it with a MicroSD card.

In the right profile you have the physical controls of volume and blocking / on-off of the terminal and on the lower edge the mini jack to connect the headphones. At the top edge the MicroUSB to connect to your equipment or to the current.

    Screen

The ZTE Blade 4G Vec has a 5-inch HD screen with IPS technology and a very interesting resolution for a cheap smartphone like this, 1280 x 720 pixels under a pixel density of 291ppp and 16 million colors.

    Hardware and performance

We liked it on the outside, but ... and inside? Let's now analyze the internal components to know what features they can offer when talking about performance and data processing.

The ZTE Blade 4G Vec features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core 1.2 processor along with an Adreno 305 GPU and a 1GB RAM.

Obviously we are not in front of a top terminal, far from it. But after installing and playing several demanding mobile video games such as Real Racing 3 or Dead Trigger 2 we have not seen excessive problems. Both games ran with ease.

If we talk about photo editing or multimedia content consumption, we notice slight delays, which you will only perceive if some of the most powerful mobile devices on the market have passed through your hands, but you will hardly notice if your experience and your previous mobility devices were in the range half. That is, delays, there are, but they are minimal.

We have also been struck by some flicker of lighting, but without excessive importance, although it is worth mentioning them.

The battery is not removable, it is a unibody device. It has a capacity of 2,300 mAh and in normal use, consult social networks, mail, web browsing and some other occasional call is able to arrive without any problems to the day of use.

    Software and connectivity

At software level we find Android 4.4.2 KitKat, an S.O. that without being the newest in the market; it is not excessively outdated compared to the competition.

The customization layer used by the ZTE Blade 4G vec is very light and quite clean, with few modifications and extra applications. Something that is appreciated and that directly influences performance, for good, of course.

Another feature that we especially liked is the possibility of 4G connection offered thanks to the integrated fourth generation modem that enables you to download content at 150 Mbps low speed frequencies 800/1800/2600 MHz. It also has WiFi 802.11 b / g / n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS.

    Camera

In the camera section the ZTE Blade 4G Vec has left us with bit bittersweet and strange sensations. And it is that the webcam, that is, the front camera, offers very good features despite having a 1 megapixel sensor.

The webcam offers three modes, one the normal, another the beautification, which retouches the photos automatically, with a pretty good result. And I say this quite good, because we have found other mobile phones that used this software and deformed the features to the point of not recognizing us. But more than words, we leave you a graphic example so you can see the difference.

The third mode of the webcam is the smile detection, that is, the mobile should detect autonomously when you smile and take the picture. I say I should, because I have not been able to detect my smile, maybe it is that I am very serious; (It is not a significant problem, but it should also be noted.

The main camera, the rear one, uses an 8 megapixel sensor with Flash and autofocus. Like almost 100% of the phones in this segment, the camera shows great shortcomings in low light conditions. We have also detected certain autofocus problems in some photographs.

The camera has several modes and manual settings such as ISO control (100 - 800), scene setting (automatic, incandescent, natural light, fluorescent, cloudy) exposure and focus level (photometer, center and middle). It also has panoramic and HDR.

    Conclusions

To summarize a bit my impressions after spending more than a month testing and analyzing this smartphone we could highlight that the ZTE Blade 4G Vec offers an HD screen with good definition and brightness. The battery without being its main asset, offers more than decent results exceeding the day of use without excessive problems.

At the level of performance let's say that it does not stand out but it does not show excessive problems either, it is what is expected for a mobile of its price.

The camera, powerful in its webcam section and slightly below the average in the main camera, but we cannot pretend that a mobile that costs 179 euros free has everything, right?
