This technology will allow to go beyond telephones and connect other objects, devices and services such as transportation, finances or health.

There is no official availability date. Some speak of 2020 as the year in which this new generation of mobile telephony could start. But other forecasts also indicate that by 2025 there will be 1.4 billion devices connected to this 5G network. And that will only cover a third of the world's population. With 5G not only mobile phones will be connected, but also a lot of objects, devices and services such as cars, finance, health care providers, public services and other sectors. To get a first idea, 5G connections are configured to be approximately three times faster than 4G. Therefore, it is considered that 5G is more than just a generational leap and that it represents an unprecedented transformation without supposing a rupture. That is, 5G is expected to evolve naturally from existing 4G networks, although they will offer instant high power connectivity to billions of devices.

It is insisted that without 5G it will not be possible to realize many of the technologies and services that are currently being discussed. That is to say, smart cities will not be so without these wireless networks, capable of offering a greater bandwidth that allows a transmission and communication of those millions of data that would make them possible. Thus, while we are already beginning to see a great growth in smart devices, the speed and capacity of 5G will allow an even faster arrival of this connected future.

    New advances

In addition, 5G networks are also the basis for machines to communicate without human intervention on an Internet of things capable of handling an almost infinite range of services. It will facilitate a safer life, more efficient and profitable transport networks. According to the Next Generation Mobile Network (body responsible for ensuring the creation of mobile standards), 5G will allow a completely mobile and connected society, facilitating the creation of added value in society thanks to sustainable business models.

Typical uses of 5G include access to high-capacity, high-performance broadband in urban areas with a high concentration of population, greater user mobility, the Internet of Things, extreme real-time communication and ultra-reliable communication. In addition, 5G will be the basis for countless new uses thanks to an emerging variety of applications. For example, delay-sensitive video applications, high-speed vehicle entertainment applications and on-demand mobility services for connected objects. There will also be new services enabled in the area of health and safety with extreme requirements in terms of system reliability. Future services will be delivered in a completely heterogeneous environment and a wide range of devices, such as smartphones, wearables and Communication Type Machine.

    Advantages and disadvantages

The 5G technology will be significantly faster than 4G, allowing greater productivity in all capable devices with a theoretical download speed of 10,000 Mbps. In addition, with higher bandwidth faster download speeds and the ability to run Mobile Internet applications that are much more complex.

However, it will cost more to develop and implement 5G and, again, we will see that not all terminals are compatible with these new generation networks, running the risk of becoming outdated. In addition, some believe that the arrival of 5G in the wireless spectrum could put us at risk of overloading the frequency range. And, above all, one of the main obstacles is that a formal standard for 5G has not yet been established, which is holding back the investments of some operators.

2018 can be a turning point for Sony. The company will say goodbye to its Omnibalance design line and bet on a completely renewed aesthetic. The mobile phone division of Sony is not going through its best. The excessive continuity and the absence of substantial improvements have hampered the sales of all its products in recent years, causing losses in some quarters and reducing its market share to almost insignificant percentages globally.

Part of this continuity can be easily observed in the design and aesthetics of its products, which has remained almost motionless since the first Xperia Z. Each generation of the Xperia range has provided small touches to the idea "Omnibalance", but no change substantial has been appreciated during these almost five years.

Continuity has plagued Sony for years. 2018 can be a turning point for it.

The situation, fortunately, will give a change very soon. Kenichiro Hibi, managing director of Sony in India, has confirmed in an interview with The Indian Express that the company is already working on a new generation of products with a completely renewed design.

This confirmation marries the rest of the information about the future range of Sony products, which would be a turning point for the company in the mobile segment.

The new phones will be presented in the first half of the year, and will compete with the proposals of Samsung, LG and Huawei, which will also arrive between the months of February and April.

But one of the most solid options in its price range.

In the attractive and beautiful city of Munich, Huawei finally unveiled the new Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro, two of the most anticipated terminals of 2017. These new products arrive with a new design without frames, new technologies on their screens and a total bet by artificial intelligence and neuronal processing units.

These new products, once in hand, feel especially different to all the previous that the brand has manufactured. The glossy finish and the perfect union of the elements that make up the chassis improve your perception as a whole.

The phone is slightly more curved than usual. The screen retains the 16: 9 format.

Also in the hand is a small great detail of this Mate 10: the format of the phone. The company has reduced the frames surrounding the screen, following the general trend of this 2017. However, Huawei designers and engineers have decided to keep the 16: 9 screen instead of embracing new proportions like 18: 9 (slightly more high). As a result, this Mate 10 feels more square and compact than any other phone in 2017.

The feeling when holding a phone so square is strange, but also positive. This decision has allowed Huawei to integrate a 5.9-inch screen into a much smaller body than any other flagship of 2017. And that, considering the annual dose of anabolics that the industry receives, is welcomed with open arms.

Another of the strengths of Mate 10 is the Kirin 970 chip, a SoC designed in house and that integrates for the first time a unit of neuronal processing destined solely and exclusively to tasks related to artificial intelligence.

From a technical point of view, the advance of this new chip with respect to the previous generation (Kirin 960) is minimal. It is more efficient and somewhat more powerful in certain areas, but none of these advances is remarkable enough to be highlighted individually.

What does suppose a step forward is the unit of neuronal processing that commented previously. This is able to perform very specific tasks such as the identification of patterns of use or intelligent analysis of images.

The impact of this NPU is, for the moment, very small. Only in some very particular cases such as photography or the study of patterns can you find some light around this NPU. However, its inclusion is a first step towards AI, which is already considered as the future of technology. With the passage of time, Huawei will learn to get more out of it and develop features that express this new chip.

The last major field of interest is the camera. Huawei has improved several aspects of its set, but one of the most notable is the opening f / 1.6, far superior to any other phone of the brand and only compared, today, by the LG V30.

This greater opening, together with other technologies, allows to obtain better photographs in low light conditions, something that all Huawei phones have suffered for generations. In the same way, the greater light input allows to achieve more stable photographs and with less noise. Like its predecessor, Mate 10 is committed to a dual set of cameras with different resolutions and sensors. On the one hand there is the main sensor, 12 megapixels and multi-chromatic; on the other is the secondary sensor, 20 megapixels and monochromatic. Together they are able to offer a 2x hybrid zoom and defocus system.

The results of the blurring system seem to be better than those of its predecessors, but the detection of edges and the blur's artificiality continue to play against it. There, proposals such as those of Apple or Samsung continue to do a better job.

To these three main points we must add the excellent autonomy provided by a 4,000 mAh battery and the peace of mind of the fast charging system that Huawei integrates into its phones - faster than the main alternative solutions.

We must also add the presence of EMUI 8, whose progress compared to the version we saw just a year ago is minimal. At the aesthetic level it remains heterogeneous and of debatable taste, but on a practical level it compensates with great functionality, versatility and fluidity.

In general terms, the Mate 10 of Huawei is a very good product. For 699 euros and with the more than predictable devaluation that will suffer in its first months of sale, it easily becomes one of the best options for all those who do not seek to spend large sums of money on a high-end smartphone.

However, nobody should place this product on a par with others such as the Galaxy Note 8 or the new iPhone - although it was what many expected and wanted. This Mate 10 is just below, in a segment that occupy other phones like the OnePlus 5 or the LG G6. That's where you can - and probably do - do a lot of damage.

Everyone complains about the excessive consumption of the battery, but this problem has a solution.

The new version of Apple's operating system has some buts that can be tamed like this.

iOS 11 cam with us almost a month. And this period of time has been more than enough for us to give us the most annoying ditch of the latest version of the operating system for Apple's mobile devices. Basically, the main problem is excessive battery consumption.

But this circumstance is not a toll that all users have to pay compulsorily. There are ways to control that excess spending. Above all, deactivating the second great but of iOS 11: that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are always active.

But this is not the only annoyance of iOS 11. There are also others that bother, but they have a solution.

The iOS 11 control center does not turn off WiFi or Bluetooth

Even if we deactivate these two functions in the control center, we will see how they are active again when the phone is switched on again or after a few hours. This is not a failure. Apple says that in iOS 11 these two types of connections are essential for the location to work correctly. But if we want to deactivate them completely, we will have to go to the settings application and turn them off -definitively- from there.

    Internet sharing is always active

Another surprise of the update. Apple leaves this option open by default, which turns the iPhone or iPad into a router through which third devices can connect to the Internet. To turn it off, once again, you must go to the Settings app.

Where the hell is the 'automatic brightness'?

This option, which allows you to adjust the intensity of the brightness depending on the ambient light, is no longer in the 'Display and brightness' section of Settings. You are now in General-Accessibility-Display settings.

The 'Night shift' mode is no longer in the Control Center

With 'Night shift' the iPhone or the iPad changes the blue light of the screen at the end of the day so that it does not influence the brain of the users and thus alter their sleep. Until the arrival of iOS 11, this option could be activated in a clear way from the Control Center, but now it is hidden: to reach it you have to click on the brightness control of the same Control Center and there the button will appear.

The plague of the autoplay arrives on the App Store

This is a nuisance in which the most fussy have set themselves: in the renewed App Store there are videos that are played automatically, with the consequent consumption of data and battery. But this new feature can be disabled in the Settings application, in the section dedicated to the iTunes Store and App Store.

How to add a mail account

Before, this could be done from Settings-Mail. But now Apple has decided to create a new section called Accounts and passwords, from which you can add or delete email accounts. In addition, there are all the passwords stored in the phone, but nobody panics: to access them you have to enter the unlock (or use the fingerprint).

My Control Center looks like a verbena, how can I customize it?

Accustomed to the minimalism of the Control Center in iOS 10, it seems to many that the new version has too many options. But there is no need to hold so much icon: to change its content just go to Settings-Control Center and click on Customize.

How the hell do I hide THAT bar in iMessage?

Now with iMessage you can not only send stickers, you can also share videos from TouTube, restaurants that we have booked through Open Table, songs that we have in Apple Music or even clothes that we liked from Fartech. And everything, without leaving the messaging app, thanks to a bar that appears at the bottom. To hide it, just click on the App Store icon on the left. Nothing else!
